Light Fright-Day

A few snapshots from the closing of Aze Ong's "Liwanag" exhibit last December 2, 2011 @ Yadu, The Collective. As usual, when the event is at Yadu, it's a given that everybody's bound to have a good time and this event was of no exception.

Aze Ong's mammoth 16 foot hand knitted installation hanging around the place is just wonderful. All of her works, little or huge, reflect her sole dedication and love for her passion in knitting. Talking about positivity, huh?

There were a couple of bands lined-up to play for the night ( Legarda, Skies Of Ember, Ginseng Luzon, Monochrome, etc. ) and all of them did pretty well. All of their performances came down naturally.

Then shit happened when the heavy weights of the music industry, though they come from different musical preferences, started to have an experimental collaboration on the spot. Caliph-8, Bobby Balingit, Lirio Salvador, guys from Skies of Ember and Monochrome just started to take things down right in the middle. The performance felt like it was given for the long-haul drive.

There was interaction happening with the audience. All of a sudden everybody started making weird and funny noises for the experimental music, too.

Had a good chat with Caliph-8 before and after their performance. Talked about the local Graffiti and music scene, perspectives in the different industries and some other stuff. The man is an epitome when it comes down to the word "Success" and believe me, he's just too down to earth. All natural, no bull shit.

The closing of the exhibition went smoothly as planned and everybody had a good time. No need for alcohol or drugs to have a good time. Just try to surround yourself with positive people, try to get in the middle, then that's about it. Good clean Friday's at Yadu is the shit.
